Ignition Replacement
When the cylinder is genuinely done, replacement at the curb beats a tow to anywhere.
What this service actually involves
Some ignitions are past saving: a cracked housing, a keyway chewed by years of force, a seized cylinder that laughs at graphite. Replacement is a mobile job, the column comes apart at your location, the new cylinder goes in, and on most platforms it gets keyed to your existing key so nothing else on the ring changes.
On chipped-key cars the electronic half matters as much as the brass: the new cylinder's key must still satisfy the immobilizer, and push-button cars have their own version of the problem in failed start buttons and steering-lock modules. The van carries the programming side as well as the mechanical, which is what makes it one visit instead of two.
Questions, answered straight
Nissan told my neighbor her problem was a steering lock, not the ignition.
Common and worth knowing: 2009 to 2014 Altimas and Maximas have a known electronic steering-lock failure that imitates a dead ignition perfectly. If that is what your car has, you will hear it from us instead of buying a cylinder that fixes nothing.
Will my doors still use the same key?
Wherever the platform allows, yes: the new ignition is keyed to match. Where a model genuinely cannot match, you get told before the work, not after.
How long does it take?
Most replacements finish inside a couple of hours at the curb, including the programming half on chipped-key cars.
