Spare & Duplicate Keys

The cheapest key you will ever buy is the spare made before you need it.

What this service actually involves

A spare made while you still hold a working key is the easiest job in the trade: the existing key confirms the cuts, the immobilizer accepts a sibling in minutes, and you divide the risk of the worst-morning-ever by two. Every all-keys-lost call we take is from someone who meant to get around to this.

Duplicates come in every technology: plain chipped blades, flip keys, and full proximity fobs matched by VIN so the buttons on the spare do what the buttons on the original do. Worn originals are handled too; a key that barely turns anymore gets cut from code rather than cloned from its own wear.

Questions, answered straight

Why not just clone the key at a kiosk?

Cloning copies some chip families onto lookalike blanks and fails silently on others; the kiosk cannot pair a proximity fob at all. A programmed duplicate is registered with the car itself, buttons and all.

Should the spare be a cheaper style of key?

It can be. Many drivers pair a full fob for daily use with a plain chipped blade as the glovebox-at-home spare. It starts the car all the same and costs less.

How long does it take?

With a working key present, typically well inside half an hour at the curb.
